Ukrainian banks raised deposits in May 2009

Ukrainian banks posted aggregate net revenue of UAH 61.0 bln in 5M09 and expenditures of UAH 68.1 bln (vs. UAH 39.5 bln and UAH 35.2 bln respectively in 5M08), according to National Bank of Ukraine statistics released this week. As of June 1, the NBU said banking assets totaled UAH 993.2 bln. Banks’ deposits grew by 0.3% mom in May to UAH 313.1 bln, mainly due to an increase in retail deposits (+0.7% mom).
