Ukrainian poultry producers drop complaints against importers

Ukrainian poultry producers drop complaints against importers

11 October 2010

Major Ukrainian poultry producers, including publicly traded Myronivsky Hliboproduct(LSE: MHPC LI)  have dropped their complaints to the International Trade Commission regarding  importers of Brazilian and American  poultry. The complaints were filed because the importers were suspected of dumping, selling poultry at 15-20% below domestic Ukrainian prices. However, this year Ukrainian producers are protected by higher requirements for imported meat quality favoring domestic poultry makers. Ruslan Patlavskyy: Given the 8% y-o-y increase in domestic poultry output to 364 ths mt in 1H2010 and the stronger price environment in August-October (domestic poultry prices are up 10-12% since August), we see the news as additional proof of the favorable operating environment for major domestic players, including MHP, for this year.
