Ukrzaliznytsya to order 200 passenger cars from Kryukiv Wagon in 2009

29 October 2008

Ukraine’s Minister of Transportation and Communication Josyp Vinsky said yesterday that state-owned railway operator Ukrzaliznytsya planned to order 200 passenger railcars from Kryukiv Wagon (KVBZ) in 2009. Vinsky said that Ukrzaliznytsya does not plan to place any passenger railcar orders from international companies next year. Inna Perepelytsya: In the past, Ukrzaliznytsya purchased up to 50% of its new passenger wagons from Russia’s Tverskoy Wagonostroitelniy, so news that it will focus on Ukraine-produced railcars is positive for KVBZ. Our forecast for Kryukiv Wagon’s output next year accounts for a conservative 135 railcars to Ukrzaliznytsya.
