Uzbekistan To Raise Gas Price By 127%, to $100/tcm, In 2007

12 October 2008

Uztransgas announced that it is about to increase its gas export price from to $100/tcm, or 127% up from $44/tcm, starting January 1, 2007. Vladimir Nesterenko: This is exactly what we forecasted in our recent report from Sep 7, 2006. We believe that the higher Uzbek gas price will improve Gazprom’s (and RosUkrEnergo’s) leverage in negotiations on Ukraine’s 2007 gas price, as RosUkrEnergo resells virtually all the Central Asian gas it gets from Gazprom to Ukraine.
