Metinvest-owned steel mill Yenakiieve Steel (ENMZ UK) officially commissioned a new blast furnace, increasing pig iron output capacity by 1.2 mmt to 3.0 mmt. According to Metinvest (METINV), USD 220 mln was spent on CapEx on the new facility, which is designed to use 12% less coke for pig iron production compared to the plant’s previous facility. Metinvest plans to invest a further USD 1 bln to reconstruct another blast furnace, install a continuous casting machine, build a new sintering factory, and resolve certain environmental issues.
