Zelensky praises government actions as virus situation stabilizes

13 July 2020

Ukrainian President Zelensky praised the actions of his
government as correct in combatting the COVID-19 disease since the daily rate
of recoveries exceeds the rate of new infections. “Though the numbers on the
spread of COVID-19 leave much to be desired, we reached the moment when more
people are recovering than becoming infected. This is apparent from the reports
of each service. This means that our coordinated actions were correct, and
Ukrainians upheld the government’s recommendations. We need to move forward
depending on the situation,” he told his daily coronavirus meeting on July 11.

The Dnipropetrovsk regional office to combat the
coronavirus closed its operations on July 10, it announced that day. The
cabinet resolution declaring an emergency situation in the region has been
canceled, the statement said. At the same time, quarantine restrictions remain
in place. As of July 10, 99 people in the region remain infected, out of a
total population of 3.2 million.

Cases of the COVID-19 disease caused by the
coronavirus reached 612 on July 12, according to the latest statistics released
by the National Security and Defense Council. That’s compared to 678 cases on
July 11 and 800 cases on July 10. An estimated 15 people died on July 12, and
385 recovered.

Zenon Zawada: The coronavirus situation in Ukraine has stabilized, now that most
businesses have reopened and public transport has resumed normal functioning,
for the most part. The final sign of stabilization will be the E.U. opening its
borders to non-essential visits by Ukrainians.
