Agri Ministry raises grain export forecast to 25-27 mmt

Agri Ministry raises grain export forecast to 25-27 mmt

14 December 2011

Ukraine’s Agriculture Ministry said grain exports could total 25-27 mmt in 2011/12, up from its previous forecast of 24 mmt, according to Interfax. Ukraine has harvested a record 55 mmt of grain (net weight) with an average gross yield of 3.8 t/ha (up from 2.8 t/ha in 2010). Yegor Samusenko: We do not see a reason for the ministry to revise its outlook for grain exports since its last review a week ago. We deem a range of 24.0-24.5 mmt (lower bound provided in early December by the ministry, higher bound by APK-Inform in late November) more realistic given expectations for winterkill, which implies decreased grain volumes available for export.
