Rumors Of Yushchenko-Tymoshenko Spat

Rumors Of Yushchenko-Tymoshenko Spat

23 May 2008

Recently, the Ukrainian newspaper Zerkalo Nedeli reported a quarrel between Viktor Yushchenko and Yulia Tymoshenko at a meeting with Russian oil traders.  According to the paper, Yushchenko told Tymoshenko to resign, but their spokespeople denied the rumor. Concorde Capital: There have been a number of stories suggesting there is a growing rift between Yushchenko and Tymoshenko, but we maintain that there will be no resignations. They are far too dependent on one another’s popularity and support to risk breaking up their combined forces. If Yushchenko were to force Tymoshenko to resign now, it would be political suicide.
