Ukrtelecom's Mobile Customers to Use BeeLine Network

Ukrtelecom's Mobile Customers to Use BeeLine Network

5 September 2008

URS (BeeLine mobile network) signed a roaming agreement with Ukrtelecom (UTEL: HOLD), which will allow Ukrtelecom’s mobile customers to use the BeeLine network in the areas which will not be covered by Ukrtelecom’s 3G network. According to URS, the company provides similar services to another Ukrainian mobile operator, Golden Telecom. Alexander Paraschiy: The agreement is beneficial for Ukrtelecom, as the company does not plan to construct a nation-wide 3G mobile network in the short-term (only coverage of large cities is planned). The roaming agreement will allow Ukrtelecom to position its mobile operator as a nation-wide provider. The agreement is also a big plus for URS, as it will earn from the provision of additional voice/data transmission services and will utilize more of its mobile network outside large cities.
