More Mud Slinging Over Re-Privatization Process

More Mud Slinging Over Re-Privatization Process

19 May 2008

President Viktor Yushchenko promised yesterday that a ?report? on re-privatization will be ready within two days. Meanwhile, high ranking government officials made a number of confusing statements, including a considerable amount of mud-slinging between Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and Deputy PM Anotoli Kinkakh. Tymoshenko said a list of 29 companies marked for re-privatization was not prepared by the government, but by ?one minister.? Kinkah accused Tymoshenko of ?lying? and ?populism.? There are rumors that either Tymoshenko or Kinakh may leave the government shortly. Concorde Capital:  Despite the tension, we do not expect any resignations in the government at this time. We expect the uncertainty over re-privatization to be resolved within a few weeks and that mass re-privatizations are unlikely.
