Poltavaoblenergo refused permit to buy 25% of Kyivenergo

Poltavaoblenergo refused permit to buy 25% of Kyivenergo

23 November 2011

Ukraine’s Antimonopoly Committee (AMC) refused to give a permit to Poltavaoblenergo (POON UK) to acquire a 25% stake in Kyivenergo (KIEN UK). The AMC said it based its decision on a procedural breach in the disclosure of the ultimate beneficiaries of Poltavaoblenergo. The auction for 25% of Kyivenergo was scheduled for November 25, with DTEK (DTEKUA) and Poltavaoblenergo the only bidders. Kommersant today cited a source in the State Property Fund that said there is a high probability Poltavaoblenergo would still be qualified by the SPF for Friday’s auction, and would just need to re-apply to AMCU for the permit if it is the successful bidder.
