Sector profits rose 1.4 times yoy in January-September to USD 970 mln while banking revenues climbed 60% yoy to USD 9.2 bln, according to the National Bank of Ukraine. The net assets of Ukrainian banks got a 49.6% YTD boost in 9M07, more than last year’s 34% rise, to USD 100.8 bln. Loan portfolios expanded 52.2% YTD to USD 27.9 bln (vs. 46.7% YTD growth in 9M06). Banking liabilities increased by 51.3% YTD to USD 30.2 bln (vs. 34.4% in 9M06). The National Bank also said that long-term loans to banks increased 58.5% YTD to USD 49.3 bln, and accounted for 60.7% of all credits to banks. The bank’s share capital rose 38% YTD to USD 11.6 bln (vs. 30.7% in 9M06).
